Is your toilet lonely?

2.6 billion people – that’s 40% of the world’s population – don’t have somewhere safe, clean and hygienic to go to the loo. The human impact of this scandalous stat is enormous: nearly one in five child deaths each year is due to diarrhoea. The good news is you can help change this by twinning your toilet!

For people in poor communities, a hole in the ground is quite literally a life saver – protecting women from the risk of attack as they find somewhere private to squat, and shielding children from preventable diarrhoeal diseases. By twinning a toilet you’ll be helping those who most need it access safe sanitation, clean water and hygiene education.

Does this look like the face of a happy toilet? Don’t take it for granted! Why not show your loo some love and get it a twin!

For £60 you can twin your toilet with a latrine in Burundi and help provide poor communities with access to decent loos and clean water.

You’ll receive a framed certificate of your toilet’s twin, containing a photo, the latrine’s location and its GPS coordinates so you can look it up on Google Maps.

£60 might seem like a lot of money, but if you get together with your mates, your family or a church group, you can easily save your pennies so someone can ‘spend a penny’, and make a world of difference.
